What is Texoma Times?
Lisa Craig, Managing Editor I have been thinking of a
way to best describe Texoma Times to our readers. I have decided that a little bit of
history needs to come first. Like a lot of people, Texoma started out to be a place of
refuge and relaxation on the weekends for my family. Weekends that were full of fun, good
food, and lots of laughter. Over the years, we have invested money into property at the
lake and have been spending more and more time at our favorite hot spot.
One night, over a campfire with my husband and friends, we began talking of a way to
bring all of the communities around the lake closer together. (As you know, there have
been many profound conversations around a campfire.) We knew there was a lot of people who
were just like us. People who only get to know a certain part of the lake. Just the
restaurants, shops and marinas, that were close to their particular area.
We realized that there was a need for a publication (besides a regular newspaper) that
provided information about lake activities as well as human interest stories. Once this
idea started taking shape, we realized the endless possibilities a publication of this
sort could provide for everyone associated with the lake.
This publication is meant to focus on businesses around the lake that a lot of people
are not aware of. This includes fishing guides, restaurants, antique shops, resorts and
marinas, boat sales, and the list goes on and on. Also provided is classified advertising,
recipes and household tips, and much more.
Texomacam.com was the first venture of our new company. A way to bring our publication
to light, on-line. Our WebCam shoots pictures every five minutes and automatically
refreshes on our home page. Advanced technology, bringing the lake straight into your home
or business, allowing virtual tours of selected areas. Stories of interest, current
weather and forecast, lake levels and a comprehensive directory of area businesses that
survive because of you. TexomaCam.com, born from an idea, spawning many more.
We believe that the Texoma area needs to provide to the "weekenders", the
residents and the businesses as well, a way of communicating their stories,
recommendations, and calendar of events. This is the way.
We hope that this will spark your interest in Texoma Times.
